POSITION STRUCTURE AND DETAILS

Reports to: Director of Production
Location: Eden Prairie
Hours/week: 40 hours/week
FLSA Classification: Exempt

KEY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES

Success in this position will be found in someone who can work together as a member of the Grace production team to design, implement, and support Grace Church’s production technology systems. These systems include broadcast video, multi-campus video transport, production audio, production lighting, and associated infrastructure in Grace Church’s Auditorium, Chapel, Multisite campus locations, Youth & Kids Ministry environments, meeting, classroom, and office spaces. This position will focus primarily on obtaining a working knowledge of all production systems, maintaining said systems, and designing new systems as areas of the Grace Church campus are upgraded and expanded.

  • Responsible for collaborating with key stakeholders to establish design and engineering standards for all production systems across all Grace Church platforms to ensure desired outcomes for all participants.
  • Working within the parameters of these established system standards, support the team by providing insight and leadership on the design, implementation, training, and maintenance of production systems across all Grace Church venues to ensure the highest possible levels of user satisfaction.
  • Responsible for creating, maintaining, and deploying technical and training documentation and resources for staff and volunteers. As needed, provide technical training for staff and volunteers on new and existing systems and technologies
  • As directed, help build and maintain equipment, including but not limited to software/firmware updates, physical fixing (re-soldering, etc.), building cables, racks, rack equipment, lights, projectors, cameras, computers, consoles
  • Support efforts to maintain organization, documentation, cleanliness, and security of shop space and its inventory 
  • Support all user communities with knowledge and decision-making skills to help solve complex production technology issues for all locations
  • As governed by annual budgets and purchasing guidelines, responsible for managing all AVL purchases by maintaining POs/vendor relationships for Grace Church. Work with Finance and Operations to inform and secure purchasing approval from the Sr. Leadership and the FMC as required.
  • Support decision-making by staying current with new and emerging technology and trends. Responsible for implementing changes as directed.
  • Functional support Worship and Production teams during the execution of church services, events, and building rental programs requiring production support.
  • Responsible for developing and administering preventative maintenance standards across the organization.
  • Other duties as assigned.

PROFESSIONAL AND SPIRITUAL EXPECTATIONS

  • Associates or Technical degree with certification; or equivalent combination of education and experience (typically 5+ years) preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience with technical equipment preventative maintenance/troubleshooting.
  • Experience with computer networking.
  • Ability to see AVL technology through a “Church Lens” with the end user/experience in mind.
  • Advanced knowledge and ability to operate and troubleshoot technical equipment within Audio, Video, and Lighting systems. Ability to learn basic operation and troubleshooting of all production systems within one year.
  • Demonstrate a history of successfully developing and enforcing preventative maintenance standards across large organizations.
  • Ability to lead projects, meet deadlines and have strong decision-making skills.
  • Ability to engineer production systems from the ground up.
  • Ability to work as a self-starter in a solo work environment and also with a collaborative team.
  • Ability to engineer and create line drawings within AutoCAD, Vectorworks, or equivalent preferred.
  • Ability to lead system installations from concept through post-installation operations and delivery, including providing training and documentation to end users.
  • High level of personal organization and time management skills.
  • Experience with Yamaha, GrandMA, Behringer, Ross consoles, + Q-Sys, Crestron, Dante, Cisco, Netgear a plus.
  • Demonstrate a passion to minister to people within the context of the local church.
